Privacy

Last updated 3 October 2026. Trees n Bees is invite-only while we test it with a small group of growers.

The short version

  • Your records belong to you and your farm. We don't sell them, and there is no advertising in the app.
  • Records are kept on your device first, and copied to our cloud database so they sync between your devices and the people on your farm.
  • Only the people you invite to your farm can see its records. Trees n Bees staff can view a farm, read only, to help when something goes wrong.
  • You can download everything at any time, and ask us to delete your account and farm.

What we keep

  • Your account: email address, name (if you give one), password (stored by our sign-in provider in scrambled form, never readable by us), and your display units. If you request an invite, also where you grow and what you grow or keep, which we use to decide on invitations.
  • Your farm: its name, postal address, phone, beekeeper registration number and PIC if you enter them, and who belongs to it with what role.
  • Your records: orchards, blocks, trees, work, bloom, harvests, weather and rain readings, water tanks and water use, garden beds and their log, hives, inspections and bee records, map drawings, photos and voice memos.
  • Locations: the map positions of things you draw or place, and the GPS position of a capture when your phone has one. We only read your location when you take a capture or use a location button.
  • Notifications: if you turn on alerts, the browser's notification address for that device, your alert settings, your time zone, and the farm location the forecast is for.

Where it is stored

On your device, in the app's own storage. In the cloud, in a database and file store run for us by Supabase. The app and website are served by Cloudflare. Data is sent over encrypted connections.

Other services the app talks to

  • Esri (ArcGIS): satellite imagery, map labels and address search. When you look at the map, your device asks for the map tiles of that area; address searches send the address you typed.
  • Open-Meteo: weather history and forecasts. It receives your farm's approximate coordinates, not your name or address.
  • Your browser's push service (for example Google or Apple) delivers alerts if you turn them on. It sees the alert text.

None of these services receive your records, photos or account details from us.

Who can see your farm

Owners and editors can see and change the farm's records; viewers can see them. Owners choose who is invited. Trees n Bees staff can open a farm in view-only mode to give support or fix a problem, and don't do so otherwise.

Your choices

  • Download: Settings → Data & backup lets you download a full backup and spreadsheets (CSV) of your farm's records.
  • Correct: you can edit or delete records and farm details in the app.
  • Delete: email hello@treesnbees.app to have your account, or your whole farm with its photos, deleted from the cloud. Records on your own devices stay until you clear the app's storage.
  • Notifications can be turned off at any time, per device.
